Share

MABkargo Sdn. Bhd. (MASkargo) successfully conducted a physical Radiological Incident Emergency Response Drill on Monday 22 March 2021 as part of the AELB Regulatory Requirement for License Holder to Radioactive Material Transportation.

The exercise involved the participation of about 50 people from internal Malaysia Aviation Group Business Units, Malaysia Airports Sepang, Royal Malaysian Police, Airport Fire & Rescue Services, Free Commercial Zone Authority, Airport Emergency Response Agencies and the Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB).

The two-hour exercise worked on a scenario where a “leaked Radioactive Package” was discovered at Core 1 of the Advanced Cargo Centre. Due to the COVID-19 SOPs, the drill was carried out on a small scale with minimal operations disruption.

Prior to the physical exercise, a Table-Top Exercise was conducted on 18 March 2021 with the BUs concerned.

Speaking on the exercise, Dato’ Dr. Mohammad Razin Kamarulzaman, Malaysia Airlines Head of Corporate Safety Oversight said, “This exercise is not only to test the MAG SOP in response to Radiological Emergencies but also to see the interphase with the Airport Agencies and AELB. We thank all BUs and agencies who took part in this drill”.
