MASkargo Kuching Welcomes Biggest Vaccine Shipment
The MASkargo team in Kuching Sarawak recently welcomed its biggest single shipment of vaccines. MH6170 landed at the Kuching International Airport at about 12.20pm on Wednesday 9 June with two units of temperature-controlled containers (RAP) bearing 380,000 doses of the Sinovac vaccine.
On site to witness the arrival of this shipment were Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) Chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian – Local Government and Housing Minister and Dr Rosmawati Ariffin – Acting Director of Sarawak Health Department.
“The team in KCH made all the necessary arrangements to ensure the arrival of this shipment was managed without glitches. We also took care in ensuring all SOPs were adhered to. As we were informed of State Ministers coming to witness this arrival, we enlisted our security team for crowd and SOP compliance. On the whole, the event went very smoothly and I am happy that the MASkargo KCH team carried out their responsibilities in support of the National Vaccination Programme”, said Hj Muhamad Khairul Hj Mohd Nor – Manager Cargo Sales – Sabah, Sarawak & Brunei.
Upon arrival in KCH, the vaccines were then segregated by the Ministry of Health (MOH) team and arrangements were made to send the vaccines to Marudi and Lawas on MASwings’ flights.
Over in Miri, the Operations Team was also very busy as they welcomed 35 boxes of Sinovac vaccines on 10 Jun via flight MH2574. The presence of Datuk Lee Kin Shin – Sarawak’s Minister of Transport, Datuk Sebastian Ting – Piasau Assemblyman, Tuan Abdul Aziz – Chief Resident of Miri and Dr. P.Raviwharmman a/l Packierisamy – Head of MoH in Miri added to the excitement of the vaccine arrival. The vaccines were immediately segregated by the MoH representative and some of the shipment were transported by land to the Local Clinic Community in the interior such as Batu Niah, Bekenu, Bakong, Tinjar and Long Lama.
Mackenzie David, MAB Station Head in Miri, expressed his appreciation of the coordinated teamwork across the network which led to the smooth handling of the vaccines in Miri. “Vaccination against the COVID-19 virus is now a high priority for everyone in the country. As such, our team will go all out to ensure that they are are managed smoothly and efficiently at our end. This is our commitment in the battle against the pandemic”, ended Mackenzie.
