MASkargo Flies Laptops for Yayasan Hasanah’s Cerdik Program
MASkargo recently flew 300 laptops for underprivileged children in Sabah. The shipment was contributed by Telekom Malaysia for Yayasan Hasanah’s CERDIK. CERDIK is a Government Linked Company (GLC) and Government Linked Investment Company (GLIC) Corporate Responsibility pilot initiative to provide digital access comprising laptops, tablets and data connectivity to students from lower-income families.
“The COVID19 pandemic has bulldozed the world into practicing new norms and schoolchildren are not exempted. Students from all levels are now required to attend classes online classes due to safety concerns of physical classes. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford the luxury of the electronic device required for these classes. By flying the laptops to Sabah, it is the least we can do in ensuring these children receive the assistance they need to minimize the disruption of their education process”, said Ibrahim Mohamed Salleh, MASkargo Chief Executive Officer.
200 units of the laptops were for students of SK Sembirai and SMK Arshad in Kota Belud while the rest went to SMK Abaka in Tawau. Upon arrival at the BKI and TWU airports, the laptops were collected by the Telekom Malaysia team to be handed over to the respective Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah.
